TODAY THE WORDS ARE TALK TO ME BANDIT

Buster and Bandit Miller

TODAY THE WORDS are TALK TO ME BANDIT. Buster, our Papillon mix, and rescued dog has his way of communication to Bandit. Greg said yesterday, “I wish I knew what he is saying” and this brought today’s message to me. I need to video Buster doing his “talking” to Bandit whose response is different from growling and has several syllables but Buster is very animated in his “words” and goes from low to high decibels to low, long drawn out whimpers. Buster stages himself in front of Bandit (our more passive and older Yorkie, also rescued). It is a humorous site, but after a few times of laughing, and watching; I have come to some conclusions about this “conversation”. Buster is using this time to try to convince Bandit of  something and feels the need to sell him on whatever idea he has in mind. Bandit, after listening for quite a while, usually “answers” with a lowered growling sound with several levels mixed in so we think this is Bandit’s way of “talking” and them seemingly to be speaking two different languages brought me to my deeper thought. We, as humans, seem to talk different languages and I am not referring to English, Spanish, German, French, etc. I am “speaking” of how we speak to each other. Either it is we are trying too hard to get our point across and we do not listen to the other person or we don’t like what we hear when the other person speaks. I had a revelation this week when I wrote on Stillness is a Gift (inspired by a friend). If we are to be still and know God is God; are we not supposed to be still and actually listen when others are speaking? In our lives, we may be talking too much as Buster seems to do. Bandit stays quieter until he seems to have something important to say; he then says what he means and doesn’t howl and yap; he gets it out and over with. When we are speaking with others; maybe we can learn from Buster and Bandit. Buster seems to go on and on while Bandit speaks his peace and stops. I talk a lot and I think I will try to exercise Bandit’s approach more often. Live life, love life, and live life to the fullest by listening with your heart and mind.

1 Corinthians 12:10
To another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
